Recap
Pastor Travis Hearn opened by welcoming the congregation and celebrating recent events before delivering a powerful message titled 'Don't Go Back.' He began by posing a central question: why would anyone return to the situations, relationships, or addictions they had to pray themselves out of? Using the story of the Israelites in Exodus, Pastor Travis illustrated how God's people, after being miraculously freed from slavery in Egypt, later grumbled and wanted to return to the familiar bondage. He paralleled this to our personal 'Egypts'—past hurts, addictions, and destructive patterns from which God has delivered us. The core of the message was a call to move forward into God's promises and never retreat to what held us captive. Pastor Travis outlined four key understandings: first, that God has a divine, prosperous plan for each life, far greater than our earthly goals. Second, that God is just getting started with us, regardless of age, as illustrated by the story of 'Grandma Louise.' Third, that God sees potential and purpose in us that we often cannot see in ourselves, just as He did with Moses and Gideon. Finally, that walking into God's promised future requires leaving the past behind, straining and pressing forward. He emphasized that freedom, paid for by Jesus on the cross, requires effort and the support of a godly community. The sermon concluded with an invitation to surrender or rededicate one's life to Christ and a strong encouragement to get connected through small groups and weekly studies to stay strong and avoid returning to old patterns.
