Recap
Pastor Travis Hearn opened the service with prayer and addressed the common human tendency to wear 'masks'—false fronts that hide our struggles, fears, and imperfections. He explained that these masks are a form of hypocrisy, a term Jesus used repeatedly in Matthew 23 to describe those who look good on the outside but are a mess within. The core of the message focused on dismantling the 'spirit of perfectionism,' which is deeply rooted in fear and insecurity. Pastor Travis outlined four key problems with this mindset: a need for control, a critical and judgmental heart, being a people-pleaser, and relying on artificial self-esteem. He taught that our need for control is ultimately a trust issue, and we must seek God's kingdom first, as taught in Matthew 6. He warned against judging others, reminding us that only God is the qualified judge. The sermon challenged listeners to stop living for the approval of others and to become 'God-pleasers,' finding their true identity, confidence, and fulfillment solely in Jesus Christ. He concluded by encouraging everyone to remove their masks, be authentic before God, and trust in Jehovah Jireh, our provider, who is more than enough.
