Recap
Pastor Travis Hearn opened the service by reading Isaiah 43:1-2, declaring a message titled 'This Is What the Lord Says.' He began by acknowledging the 'giant voices' many face—fear, discouragement, hopelessness—shouting about failed marriages, addiction, anxiety, and illness. He then shared his personal testimony of suffering a severe hemorrhagic stroke 15 months prior, where doctors warned of irreversible damage, but he stood as a testament to God's power to 'reverse the irreversible.' The core message was that God's word is the ultimate authority over any other voice. Pastor Travis offered three pieces of encouragement from the Isaiah text. First, 'Do not fear,' because God gives a peace the world cannot offer. He illustrated this with the story of David and Goliath, emphasizing that David's courage came from focusing on God's size, not the giant's, and that enemy voices only come when you are a threat. Second, 'You are going to get through it.' He highlighted the word 'when' in Isaiah, indicating our trials are temporary. The 'pass through' stage, though difficult, is where faith is tested and power is developed, likening it to the waiting in Isaiah 40:31 that renews strength and allows us to 'soar like eagles' instead of acting in fear 'like chickens.' Third, 'God is going to go through it with you.' He paralleled Isaiah's promise with Psalm 23, reminding the church that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who is with us even in the 'valley of the shadow of death,' which is just a shadow because the light of Christ is present. He concluded with an altar call, inviting those who had not yet given their lives to Jesus to do so, and a prayer of gratitude for God's faithful word and presence in our passing through.
