Recap
Pastor Travis Hearn opened by reflecting on the multifaceted nature of faith, describing it as 'wild' because it operates beyond what we can see. He explained that we need faith both *for* things—like our future, finances, and healing—and *to do* things—like starting, forgiving, and obeying God. Using the story of Peter walking on water from Matthew 14, Pastor Travis illustrated how life's storms—represented by waves of worry, fear, sickness, or betrayal—can feel overwhelming. Yet, God calls us to 'walk when the waves are wild,' stepping out in faith even when we are terrified. He shared three directives for responding to God's call. First, we must step out of our 'boat' of comfort simply 'because He said so,' trusting God's word over our understanding, as Peter did when Jesus said 'Come.' Second, we must 'do it scared,' acknowledging that fear doesn't cancel our calling, but comfort does. Courage is moving forward despite fear, as God encouraged Joshua. Third, we must recognize that God's calling is 'sacred,' to be approached with reverence and obedience, as Moses did at the burning bush. Pastor Travis applied this personally, sharing how he stepped out in faith to plant Impact Church 15 years ago despite feeling unqualified, and celebrated Pastors Darrison and Whitney who are now stepping out to plant a church in Miami. He closed by challenging everyone to take their own step of faith, whether it's surrendering to Christ or obeying a specific call, trusting that miracles happen on the other side of obedience.
